During the visit, the President of Tajikistan briefly described the economic situation in the country, noting the steady growth of industry. He reported that in 2012 Tatarstan expects to achieve growth in gross regional product (GRP) of more than 5%. He also mentioned that Italy is one of the major trading partners for Tatarstan as a region of Russia.
According to the President, in 2011, the foreign trade of Italy and Tatarstan was worth USD 2.3 billion and the corresponding figure for this year could be more than USD2.7 billion.
Vincenzo Trani is actively promoting the mutually beneficial Russian-Italian relationship, particularly in the Republic of Tatarstan, where Concern General Invest opened a branch at the start of 2012.
